British singer Kate Bush has once again become a major talking point in 2026, as older fans and a new generation celebrate her unique voice and songwriting. Known for hits like “Wuthering Heights” and “Running Up That Hill,” Bush is widely regarded as one of pop music’s most inventive artists. After decades of staying away from the spotlight, she is now hinting at fresh creative projects, including possible new music.
Bush first rose to fame in 1978 with “Wuthering Heights,” a song inspired by Emily Brontë’s novel. She became famous for her theatrical style, unusual lyrics, and self-written songs, which set her apart from many pop stars of her time. Over the years, she released several critically praised albums, such as The Dreaming, Hounds of Love, and Aerial, building a loyal global fan base.
In 2022, her 1985 “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” returned to the charts after it was used in the Netflix series Stranger Things. The track climbed to number one in the UK and several other countries, introducing Bush to millions of younger listeners. She later posted a short statement thanking fans and the show’s creators, saying she was “overwhelmed” by the renewed attention.
Despite this surge in popularity, Bush has remained very private and selective about public appearances. Her last major live run was the 22-show Before the Dawn tour in London in 2014, which many critics called a landmark comeback. Since then she has not toured and has only made rare public sightings, such as at a London theatre awards event in 2014.
In recent interviews, Bush has said she is keen to start work on a new album. Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today program in 2024, she mentioned that she has “lots of ideas” and is eager to return to the studio. She also stressed that she wants to take her time and not rush the process, staying true to her own creative rhythm.
Beyond music, Bush has explored other art forms. In 2024, she wrote and directed an animated short film titled Little Shrew, set to her song “Snowflake,” to raise money for children affected by war. She described the experience as similar to making music, saying she enjoyed working closely with animators just as she does with musicians.
In 2025 and 2026, fans have also seen her name linked to campaigns over artificial intelligence and artists’ rights. She joined a “silent album” project with hundreds of other musicians to protest AI systems using their work without consent. This move underlined her long-standing concern about how technology affects creativity and copyright.
Today, Kate Bush lives a low-profile life in England with her partner, guitarist Dan McIntosh, who has also played in her band. She continues to influence younger artists and remains a symbol of artistic independence in the music world. With rumors of new music circulating, fans are watching closely for any official announcement while celebrating the work that has already made her a legend.
