The legend, Jackie Woodburne, who plays the role of a neighbour, is already back on TV four days after the soup was finally over. The Channel 5 drama The Imposter is currently headed by the actor who portrayed the character of Susan Kennedy in a period of more than 30 years.
The show is set in Australia and follows the life of a matriarch, Helen (Woodburne), who owns a hotel near the ocean with her three grown-up children. When Helen makes the decision not to sell the business, a massive feud breaks out in her family.
Im the meantime, new actress Amanda (Kym Marsh) contributes to the message and announces that she is a long-lost secret daughter that Helen adopted many years ago.
It is a four-part drama, also featuring Dannii Minogue, and it starts this evening (15 December) at 9pm on Channel 5, with the episodes running daily up to the final episode on Thursday (18 December).
The Imposter has a newly-released trailer in which Woodburne, as her character, is hard-pressed to maintain her family and business. Helen and Amanda are bonded quickly, but it is evident that the rest of the clan does not welcome them with open arms. The movie trailer presents a hint of doubt, deceit and even murder when a plot goes astray.
The official Instagram account of the soap published the video last Thursday, after the last instalment of the show. The captain said: “As we say goodbye, we’re also celebrating the incredible talent who made Neighbours home,” read the caption.
“Our very own Jackie Woodburne returns to screens tonight in The Imposter, a gripping new four-part drama on Channel 5. A completely different role ….but the same powerhouse talent we’ve loved for decades as Susan Kennedy.”
Susan Kennedy was first introduced in Erinsborough in 1994 and became the second-longest-running character in the history of the show. The longest-serving character is her husband Karl (Alan Fletcher), who has only featured in nine episodes before.
Susan is one of the central figures of the Neighbours finale and a veteran of Ramsay Street after over thirty years. In the final scenes of the show, she gave a touching and encouraging monologue and promised never to surrender to her favourite community. The Imposter can be viewed on Channel 5 at 9 pm.
