According to the announcement in Nottingham Forest, coach Sean Dyche was fired on Wednesday after his team had drawn 0-0 with the bottom club in the Premier League, Wolves.
Dyche replaced Forest’s third coach in the season, Nuno Espirito Santo, who was initially the manager at the beginning of the season as the manager, but was then fired by Ange Postecoglou, who replaced him.
After the tie with Wolves, Forest are ranked 17th in the Premier League, three points above the relegation zone.
A Forest statement said: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach.
” We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club, and we wish them the best of luck in the future.
“We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club, and we wish them the best of luck in the future.
“We will be making no further comment at this time.”
Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of the forest, who publicly disagreed with Espirito Santo earlier in his departure, was in attendance on Wednesday and at the game. Dyche appeared to have accepted his destiny after a dismal run of performance.
“The owner has been fair to me, without a shadow of a doubt,” Dyche said. “If anyone chooses to change in football now, that’s their decision. We’ve all seen it.
“People can demand change, and then it’s always whether they change or not. I just work very hard. I care about this club. I’ve made that clear. I’m working very hard.
“If the owner wants to make a change, then that’s up to him, and that’s the way football is now, that’s just the reality of it.”
Forest finished seventh in the Premier League under Espirito Santo last season, failing to secure a Champions League place as a result of a dismal end to the season, but gained the first place in European football since the 1995-96 season.
In June 2025, Nuno agreed to a new three-year contract at the City Ground, but was fired in September due to a collapse of his relationship with Marinakis.
The Portuguese was soon replaced by former Tottenham manager Postecoglou, who, however, only served 40 days after Marinakis was sacked once more, a few minutes after a 3-0 loss to Chelsea.
Dyche, a former trainee of the club living in Nottingham, replaced Jonny Walker as the third first-team boss of the season on Oct. 21, and was accompanied in the dugout by former Forest heroes Ian Woan and Steve Stone.
