Met Office warns the UK of gale-force winds as cold snap comes back

The Met Office predicts the onslaught of gale-force winds in the UK as the cold wave comes back. There is a possibility of snow and gale-force winds hitting the UK this week, and the Met Office has predicted a lower temperature.

Thursday and Friday have a number of weather alerts, and there is a threat of strong winds up to 70 mph, and as much as 10cm of snow and ice in some regions of Scotland.

The country experienced a rainy beginning of the year, but has been experiencing brighter days in recent days, and the beginning of March brought warmer weather. The hottest day of the year to date was last Thursday when the sunshine reached a temperature of 19.2 degrees Celsius.

The peak was at Northolt, London and was hotter than the previous day of the year, which had been hot with 18.7 °C at Kew Gardens the day before. It was so hot in sections of the UK that it surpassed Barcelona with highs of 16 degrees Celsius there.

However, the weather ahead should be slightly uninteresting, and rain, wind and clouds are predicted over the UK. The latest forecast of the Met Office showed that the rest of this week will bring some cloudy and windy weather before they might experience some snow on the hills in the Scottish countryside.

Strong winds will be experienced between 5 a.m Thursday in Scotland, the north of England and Midlands and Yorkshire until 8:00 p.m. A yellow weather warning anticipates gusts of 50 to 55 mph as a result of an active weather front in South eastwards direction over the UK.

There will be areas and places along the coasts and downwind of high grounds where there will be gusts of 60 mph or even 70 mph. The winds will come down towards the north throughout the day. Southwesterly winds will also occur in Northern Ireland, which are likely to blow 40 to 50 mph in most parts of the country on the morning of Thursday. The possibility of massive regions experiencing a temporary shell of 50 to 60 mph with heavy downpours is a high possibility.

    Latest Met Office forecast
    Today :
A  rain of heavy intensity spreading south eastwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland in the morning and further north and westwards across England and Wales in the afternoon. Clearer, yet patchy rain to the south east. Turning brighter, showery and colder further north. Windy, with gales in places.

Heavy rain is clearing across England and Wales tonight. Otherwise, clear spells and showers, some wintry. Persistent snow and rain in the north, with patchy frost and ice. Windy

A cold and windy day with a mixture of sunshine and blustery showers. Showers merging to give more persistent snow and rain in places, the snow most likely over hills.
