Ricky Hatton, popularly known as “The Hitman” passed away at the age of 46. The police found him in his home in Gee Cross, Hyde, Greater Manchester. Officers stated that they were called at 6:45 a.m. after a citizen alert was announced in the morning of Sunday, September 14, 2025.

On arrival, the dead body of Hatton was there. The police confirmed that his death was not suspicious. The news comes a few months after Hatton had said in December that he would indeed fight in Dubai. The boxing fraternity and fanatics are devastated.

After the discovery, the Greater Manchester Police promptly revealed the news. One of the representatives said: “At roughly 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, police were contacted.”

Hyde reported on the worries of a man at Bowl acre Road where the body of a 46-year-old man was discovered. No suspicious conditions prevailed.

The sudden news shocked fans. Ricky Hatton was preparing to get back in the fight. He was working out, uploading YouTube content, and appearing to be in the final performance.

He has recently posted a treadmill running workout on Instagram just a few days ago. He smiled, made a fist and said, “Another 5k…good sweat on. Don’t you worry about that our kid.” That video has become part of painful memories of his supporters.

Ricky Hatton was born in Stockport and brought up in Manchester. He won world titles in light-welterweight and welterweight. He became one of the most renowned boxers in Britain. His matches against Kostya Tszyu, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Many Pacquiao were broadcast globally.

Hatton was famous in Las Vegas at night. The British fans flew thousands of miles to the Atlantic to support him. The arenas would go blue and white and filled with Manchester City songs. He took the pride of his city to the ring.

The fights and the tributes of Ricky Hatton

Ricky Hatton had fought in life too. He was open-minded when addressing alcoholism, depression, and even suicide attempts. The fact that he was honest gained him more admirers. He continued to stay in the sport and was a coach to boxers.

The tributes began to flow in immediately after news of his death. Boxing was losing a friend, a mentor, a warrior, wrote Amit Khan, Tyson Fury and many others expressed their admiration. The Hyde house, where he lives outside, was covered with flowers, scarfs and homemade letters created by his supporters.

Ricky Hatton was not only a winner. He was a brave fighter, both within and without the ring. His death at the age of 46 is still shaking the boxing fraternity.
