6 Best Things to Do in Monaco

    1. Explore the Hidden Treasures of the Prince’s Palace

It is the Grand Prince’s palace in Monaco-Ville, up on the rock, where the Grimaldi family has taken shelter since the 13th century.

Prince Rainier III and his Oscar-winning actress wife, Grace Kelly, also reside here. Today, Prince’s heir, Prince Albert II, calls the Palais du Prince home.

To reach the palace, look for the staircases that weave uphill through well-groomed gardens on the western side of the harbour.

This is the official residence of the ruling family. The Grand Appartments are open to the public. The interior displays a passion for fine art, extensive gold-leaf paneling, and more.

You will be overwhelmed by the exterior of the residence. The views from the nearby terraces are very impressive. Every day at 11:55 am, there is a changing of the guard; however, some tourists say it is nothing special to see.

Address: Place du Palais, 98015 Monaco
Price: 10 Euro to tour the inside, free to admire from the outside

Are you fond of panoramic views? So, just get ready for the unobstructed vista of Monaco’s famous skylines. It is the very best view of Monaco over the harbours.

The panoramic Viewpoint is a must-visit spot for everyone tripping to this iconic city-state. The opulent hotels and luxurious yachts create a stunning view with the combination of the rugged cliffs and serene sea below.

As you immerse yourself in the fantastic charm, you will be surrounded by the rich history and culture that Monaco symbolizes.

The stunning views encompass landmarks such as the Prince’s Palace, the Monte Carlo Casino, which stands as a testament to the city’s regal heritage.

Along with the charming vistas, you can enjoy the surrounding relaxing areas, making it an unforgettable relaxing afternoon.

Whether you are coming with your friends, family, or solo, this panoramic viewpoint is a perfect backdrop for cherishable memories.

Unwind yourself at Monaco’s main beach, Larvotto. Larvotto is a free-to-the-public shore, it is known for its coarse, transparent water, and more.

Larvotto beach is public; however, it also features some private beach clubs, like La Note Bleue, La Rose des Vents, and more.

Unlike traditional beaches, Larvotto beach has a surface of fine, imported gravel, so you must bring some sturdy shoes. Smoking and vaping are restricted in the beach area.

There are lifeguards to supervise the beach area during the hotter months, and there is a security centre for your assistance.

A lot of cafes, restaurants surround the beach area, you can sip your favorite drink while soaking in the sun!

What comes to your mind when you think of things to do in Monaco? Be real! I know, the name is Monte Carlo Casino, right? Did you never gamble or never step inside a casino, yet?

Just make it happen for now in Monaco. The Casino de Monte Carlo is an entertainment complex that was built in 1878.

As of now, the Monaco nationals are not permitted to gamble at this casino, but for everyone else, gaming starts at 2 pm. The building opens for visitors every morning, including the exclusive salon privés.

You can ogle the ornate marble and this gold-leaf-clad salon without risking a cent in the gambling rooms. Admire the intricate detailing of the architecture; even the fittings and fixtures are works of art.

Address: Pl du Casino, 98000 Monaco
Price: Open and free before 2 pm

    5. Saint Nicholas Cathedral

Saint Nicholas Cathedral, also simply known as Monaco Cathedral. It is located in the Old Town near the Prince’s Palace.

When you are here, don’t miss one of Monaco’s most prominent attractions.  The cathedral was built in 1875, and it’s quite unusual in terms of its decor.

The church is colder and greyer than you might be expecting inside, but still, beautiful. It could be a facet of its Roman-Byzantine architecture.

After Grace Kelly died in a car accident in 1982, Prince Rainier died in 2005. The Saint Nicholas Cathedral became their final resting place. You can view the flower-adorned graves of the royal couple inside the choir.

Don’t miss visiting the space behind the altar, where many of the Grimaldi family were buried.

Address: 4 Rue Colonel Bellando de Castro, 98000 Monaco
    Price: Free

    6. Oceanographic Museum of Monaco

Are you a sea explorer or fond of this activity? The Oceanographic Museum of Monaco awaits you, as it is one of the best things to do in Monaco.

This museum is one of Monaco’s main attractions, occupying 6,500 m2 of exhibition space.  The museum was founded by Prince Albert I in 1910, and he intended to dedicate this place to ‘art and science’.

The aquarium of the museum is probably considered one of the best in Europe.  It contains more than 90 tanks with 6,000 creatures, including a shark lagoon.

A skeleton of a whale is featured in the museum’s Zoology room. Most travelers reviewed this place as one of the best kid-friendly zones.

So, if you visit Monaco with your family. The museum is a must-visit spot for you. The museum welcomes visitors between 9:30 and 10:00 am.

    Address: Av. Saint-Martin, 98000 Monaco
Price: 19 Euros for adults, and discounts for children
